The Social Concerns Committee at St. Luke Church is a community outreach ministry dedicated to assisting those in need. The ministry began by collecting school supplies for students at St. Luke School and later expanded to include coat drives and assistance with utility bills for individuals and families facing hardship.

Over the years, the primary focus of the St. Luke Social Concerns Committee has become the Paper Pantry. While many organizations provide food assistance, this ministry concentrates on supplying essential household and personal care items not typically covered by government programs. These items include paper towels, toilet paper, dish soap, body wash, tissues, deodorant, toothbrushes, razors, wet wipes, shampoo, and toothpaste. In addition to meeting material needs, the ministry strives to build meaningful relationships with those it serves.

Each December, guests present an ID to receive program guidelines, distribution dates for the coming year, and a registration form for January. No proof of need is required. Typically, 65 individuals register annually, with 50 bags available for distribution each month. Bags are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants who miss two consecutive months are removed from the list, allowing others the opportunity to register.

Members of the Social Concerns Ministry purchase the supplies, and bags are packed on the second Tuesday of each month. Distribution to registered participants generally takes place on the last Sunday of the month at 8:00 a.m. through a convenient drive-up service.

The Paper Pantry is funded through the generosity of the parish community via two designated collections held in May and December.
